homeless memorial

Winning entry in the 2008 Design Build Challenge in Seattle. With a team of classmates and 72 hours from kickoff to final judging, we designed and built a seven foot, steel framed cube with thousands of colorful plaques and pieces of mirror memorializing homeless people who died without recognition. Bamboo plywood trays form the floor and central seat, and double as plaque storage when the memorial breaks down for easy transport. All materials were donated by local suppliers, and nearly all 72 hours were used in producing the '‘color cube.’' Project featured in Real Change, Seattle PI, UW Daily, and CAUP’s Column 5.
